Because I read her first book "By Myself" more than once, I happily paid $4.99 to Amazon for the Kindle Version of this new book. Unfortunately, this one did not even come close to the first book in quality. This book seemed erratic with the author jumping from one subject to another willy nilly. This was more like a brief glimpse into her life after Bogie whereas the first book stayed on track and took circumstances in chronological order. This book gave very brief glimpses into the life of Lauren Bacall. I can't say I hated this book or even disliked it but it was not anywhere as good as her first autobiography. I did learn some things I didn't know about some of the Hollywood jet-setters so that was a plus. I could understand her worship of Bogie but I found the part about her worship of Lawrence Olivier to be a bit (okay a lot) overboard. In fact, if I ever read this book again I will skip that part entirely. I've read too many books about "Vivien and Larry" so I know his care of his wife was NOT as gushingly heroic as Ms. Bacall made it out to be! But I am glad that I read it though I think I should have just gone to the library for it instead.

I love biographies and have always loved Ms.Bacall. I chose to read this before her first book because it was available on . I am glad I did. It was almost written as if the reader was having a conversation with her. Not a 'hollywood' tell all book. A book about a woman musing about life's questions.
Good book though disjointed compared to her earlier book. It jumps from here to there and back so that may be the editor's fault. It didn't really contain that much new information after her first one except some updates on her children's weddings, etc.
No more, no less -- it's all one expects of an icon, a legend (although she denies being either). A book that's more impression and concepts, than history (especially by an actress/actor-- sorry for the generality) is usually so much hot air. This book is a treasure, not to be missed!
Wonderful following to her first biography. I would like to know that her last days brought her the happiest s she so desperately desired as reflected in this her finall memoir. What a hell of a woman as Vogue would say. A MUST READ,ALL THAT WE THOUGHT SHE WAS AND WAY MORE. NAMASTE TO HER CHILDREN AND IN HER MEMORY
Book was very good but I expected more of her public life influences and the high spirited lady I love. While I was young, I had the pleasure of seeing her in San Francisco and she was wonderful. Certainly made an impression . This book is not a" can't stop reading until I finish " book, but it was always a joy to come back to read the next chapter of her life.
I was expecting it to be all about her, because it was naturally written by her, and it was totally - I loved the insights in/to her life. I didn't expect such blunt honesty and I enjoyed it. This book, though poorly edited (lots of typos and double words), made you feel you were in a conversation with her in her living room. Though the problem with a self-written autobiography is that you only know one side of her stories, as I've now heard the 'other' side and know that she was rather a diva and a difficult one at that. Filled with insecurities and selfishness. But, alas, that is true of most actors and she was definitely one of my favorites! I've always been a fan of Ms Bacall's and always will.
a good read - Lauren Bacall the film star is nothing like Lauren Bacall, wife, mother. She comes across as a very family orientated woman, she loved her husband, Humphrey Bogart, and her children. She loved her mother and her relatives - I have seen interviews with her on several occasions and always thought she was very sharp, very confrontational and someone who wouldn't fools gladly. On reading this book I was surprised to learn what a compassionate, sensitive and loving person she was. She dismisses she was beautiful, is very down to earth describing her teeth "as crooked" and her feet "large" - but I consider her to be one of the most beautiful actresses of all time. She had a uniqueness - there has never been anyone like her, a remarkable woman.
