The author took forever to get on with the story. The idea of dragging out many chance meetings and the friends who know them is great, but did not carry over well in this story. First date doesn't happen until last chapter.Couldn't wait to be done with the book.

Disillusion Meets Delight edition by Leah Battaglio Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The main character, Natalie, is easy to identify with as she encounters personal disasters and incredibly sticky situations in practically every aspect of her life work, romance, friendship, family, and finances. I found myself laughing and thinking, "What else could possibly go wrong?!", while crossing my fingers that Natalie ends up with the right guy. The entire book serves up generous portions of dating humor, pop culture references, and Bridget-Jones-esque cringe moments. Jane Austin's intellect and strong will meet Carrie Bradshaw's lovelorn shopaholic tendencies in Disillusion Meets Delight!
Great lighthearted novel
This frothy chick-lit novel is easy and fun to read. A well written and wonderfully detailed fashionista's book. The pop culture references from decades past made me laugh. I really enjoyed this book ~~ it was funny, lighthearted and cute! I laughed out loud in some places and found myself shaking my head in other places. Would definitely suggest to friends!
This is not just a read at the beach book. It's also a read in-the-house with the AC blasting book.
The author developed her characters so well that I found myself wanting to meet the main character, Natalie, for drinks. We'd commiserate over the whole, "it doesn't matter if your job is lousy, at least you have one" movement. Then we'd move on to fashion (pink is not just for little girls, IMHO), 80's movies, TV shows and food. And I'd find out where Mama B's pizzeria is, for crying out loud.
While I don't normally read chick lit, I found myself pulled in from page one. For those of us who have lived through the pain of finding our place in the world after college, I loved reading about the process through the eyes of these smart women (well one is a bit unhinged). Natalie's interior dialogue is my favorite part of the novel.
It is truly a Mocha Grande with Whip of a book. It is light and inviting like whipped cream; yummy and comforting like chocolate, and includes a kick of reality--just like espresso.
I can't wait for Ms. Battaglio's next novel.
The author took forever to get on with the story. The idea of dragging out many chance meetings and the friends who know them is great, but did not carry over well in this story. First date doesn't happen until last chapter.
Couldn't wait to be done with the book.
