This is the worst Stuart Woods' book that I have read. I have been a big fan and have read almost every one of his books over the last 15 years. Shoot First was a weak story line and it was obvious regarding what would result. I really hope that Mr. Woods improves or the next one I read will probably be the last one that I read.
Typical Stone Barrington novel with plenty of sex and adventure. Unfortunately I noticed some extreme similarities to a previous book where they were being chased on a boat. If this is your first SB novel you wouldn't notice it, but I've read most of them and noticed it immediately. When you whip them out this fast it's not too surprising. Still a fun read, to take your mind off more serious matters.
What a waste of time. If you want to read a lot about out of control spending and indulging oneself, or read about a shallow young woman, or a completely out-of-touch group of people, then this is your bag. Horrible waste of time.
10 bucks Stuart did not write this book, maybe the outline. Those of us who read all his books are not fooled. If he did write it, someone get him an aspirin, he must be sick. I will finish it but it's a chore. Get it togeather.
I honestly can't believe "Shoot First" was actually written by Woods. This book turned his character , Stone Barrington, into an elitist, crude and most unlikable guy. The entire book was far afield of the class and calibre I associate with previous works. Who were you mad at Woods?
For the past 20 years, every patent attorney with a computer has filed patent applications and really all correspondence with the Office electronically via the web. There is an immediate filing receipt. If the were down or the USPTO portal were down, you might file with the USPS, but only Express Mail in order to get both security and the same day filing date. However, no one who ever file regular snail mail. For the past 30 years, one could also file via fax if the web was unavailable. Poor knowledge and research on this one. No excuses!
Another good Stone Barrington book. I give it a four star simply because it's way too short for the amount of money I paid. That being said, Mr. Woods' books with Stone Barrington at the center of the plot are becoming boring. Even with a "new" plot, they all play out the same. Hop into bed with a new woman, run away to his other houses, outwit the bad guys. Seems like the same story over and over.
